Social media users increasingly using their personal accounts for business

Arab news:

JEDDAH: Social media websites are increasingly attracting companies’ advertising spend because there is a growing realization that this can translate into increased sales, with users also making money if sales are made through their accounts, a local publication reported on Tuesday.
The program involves users allowing companies to advertise their products on their account pages, with a 25 percent commission for every sale that takes place. A special code has to be registered to record a sale, the publication reported.
It appears that the program has become increasingly popular with Saudis, who are making money out of a form of entertainment. Companies are also realizing they can target many more young people on these sites, the report stated.
Social media guru Suad Al-Maneh said this marketing method benefits both advertisers and users, without any complications around contracts. The technology has become increasing attractive for many Saudis who can now make extra money through the use of social media, she said.
Marketing and advertising expert Loya Al-Saadi said this was one of the most modern forms of advertising currently in the marketplace. Many companies can now get their products seen by a great deal of people online, through targeted spending. There was a move away from traditional forms of advertising.
Sadeq Al-Wadaei, the online manager of the Turkish clothes specialist Maria, said the new technology is one of the best solutions for companies on the Internet. An avid Snapchat user for marketing, he said the program gets around the difficulty of having to sign permanent contracts with media companies.
He said it makes money for users and ensures companies do not have to pay until sales are recorded. The technology involves a code that a buyer has to register before purchasing. Once the sale goes through, then the Snapchat user makes up to 25 percent commission.
